Diablo III will be free for all World of Warcraft players who sign up for the new World of Warcraft Annual Pass. With this membership, players immediately commit to a full year of the popular MMO.
Blizzard's Mike Morhaime introduced the idea during Blizzcon, describing it as a slightly wild plan that he was allowed to have as company president. The membership became available through Blizzard's website.
Members receive the full digital version of Diablo III, guaranteed access to the beta for the new World of Warcraft expansion Mists of Pandaria, and an exclusive in-game mount based on Diablo artwork: Tyrael's Charger.
Blizzcon is Blizzard's two-day festival celebrating everything connected to Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo. The event began tonight in Anaheim in the United States and includes new game and expansion announcements, Foo Fighters performances, competitions and talks with Blizzard developers.
