Microsoft has repeatedly said that the plan is for the Xbox 360 to have a life cycle of ten to twelve years. Chris Lewis, head of Microsoft Europe, has now said that the new console the company is working on could be released within the same life cycle as its predecessor.
According to Lewis, Microsoft saw itself as being roughly halfway through the current console's life cycle at that moment, but that did not rule out overlap with a new console.
He did not want to announce specific timing, but suggested that an overlap between generations was possible. Microsoft was still focused on the current Xbox business and on the success it was having with the Xbox 360.
