GSC Game World says development of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has been moved to the sidelines in response to the war in Ukraine, while promising to finish the game in the future.
The studio explained that it had recently been working on a video about its motion-capture studio, including footage of actors in mocap suits and a look at how cutscenes were made.
That work suddenly felt like it belonged to another time. The video then shifted to images of Russia's invasion of Ukraine and explained that the studio's priority had become helping employees and their families survive.
GSC Game World said game development had been put aside for now, but that the team would continue after victory. The message ended with support for Ukraine.
GSC Game World was one of several Ukrainian developers to respond to the invasion. The studio also promoted a fund set up by the National Bank of Ukraine to raise money for the armed forces. People looking for humanitarian options could also donate to organisations such as Doctors Without Borders.
In January, Stalker 2 had already been delayed from April to December to meet player expectations.
