Paladin Studios, a game development company from The Hague, has unfortunately closed its doors. The company announced the decision through several online channels. It made games for nearly 19 years across different platforms. Most of its titles were mobile games, but in 2020 it released Good Job exclusively for the Switch in collaboration with Nintendo.
The company said it chose to close at a responsible moment. It had become clear that the studio would almost certainly not survive in the long run, but by closing now it could give all employees decent severance packages and end without debt. At the time of closure, 45 people worked at the studio.
The trend already started last year, and this year remains difficult for the games industry. Several studios have already closed, and even larger companies such as EA, Take-Two, Nintendo and Xbox have seen layoffs. Earlier this week, Dutch studio KeoKen Interactive, known for Deliver Us the Moon, also announced that it had to shut down.
